Looking into the buzz in air travel this week what caught our eye was aspects related to speed and sustainability.
Vinod Khosla, who founded Khosla Ventures, a VC firm, on completion of 20 years of the same, has come up with predictions – ranging from what AI is expected to do (for instance, free tutors for every child, commoditization of content creation etc.), programming and computers, Internet access, mobility and so on.
“We will have Mach 5 planes that get us from NYC to London in 90 minutes on SAF, making the world closer,” he stated in one of his slides, under Plausible Tomorrows 2035-2049.
As for sustainability, it seems that even though airlines are doing their bit to come up with ecological offerings, they still need to do more to have meaningful association with frequent flyers. Be it for buying green fares or letting members take action with their reward points in this arena are indicators of progress.
Loyalty specialists are advocating that creating awareness, incentivizing those who contribute and recognizing efforts of those who are trying to keep the environment clean/ safe is equally important.
It is important to familiarize members of FFP about these initiatives. It is also being felt that passengers believe that there is lack of transparency when it comes to seeing the impact of their sustainable activity. It is vital to bring to life a sense of pride and accomplishment among members, knowing that they’re making a difference.
So how to let loyal customers effectively participate in sustainability initiatives?
