Metaverse and travel – is the timing right to explore new use cases?

Ai Editorial

Travel companies are looking at the overall value-creation aptitude of metaverse, how it can augment the traveller experience.

Airlines must dwell into certain areas before they identify how to prepare or improve upon what they are planning in this space.

Some areas to explore:

  • How to make the most of physical world and digital world becoming one? Who is benefitting from a sense of immersion or real-time interactivity? What’s the emotional benefit that can arise during various phases, be it for dreaming/ inspiration or the day of the travel?
  • How the underlying technologies that make it a possibility have already changed the way we live and work?
  • Does metaverse even fully exist? Among the core blocks of metaverse, is “hardware” the weakest link?

It must be noted that metaverse has several recognisable components, all of which are built with non-proprietary software and using opensource protocols, making them interoperable.

These components are: augmented reality, virtual reality, data ownership protocols (SSI), blockchain/ NFT and social networking technology.

During the #ATPS in June, Sven Van de Perre, founder, Tropos AR, shared how various layers are involved – infrastructure, human interface, decentralisation, spatial computing, creator economy, discovery and experiences.

He spoke about the same: ATPS Video Interviews – AiConnects.us
