Efficacy of a Covid passport and cross-border travel

Ai Editorial

A number of questions still need to answered as far as the role of a #vaccinepassport or a digital green certificate in cross-border travel is concerned. It seems a lot of hopes hinge on such document, which essentially is a document and not really a passport. According to audience poll conducted during the Loyalty Security Association’s webinar today, 85% felt that a #covidpassport will be needed for international travel.

Expert during the panel also recommended that don’t incentivize vaccination, that’s not the job of the airline. For not on eradicating the virus, but managing it, it was felt.  Other points that were highlighted:

  • Being immunizied doesn’t mean that a passenger can’t be a carrier of the virus. So testing still has a vital role to play.
  • Vaccination status/ testing status is being linked to public life at large.
  • There are a number of challenging questions that are or going to crop up. For instance – which vaccines count and how effective are they? Are various countries going to look at different vaccines in a different way? What about the validity of a #covid passport?
