Scammers employ various methods to pilfer the personal data of travel consumers. To thwart these efforts, e-commerce businesses must respond swiftly and accurately. Notably, edge computing technology is proving instrumental in this defence.
The key is here is to process data at the edge or closer to the location where it is produced.
This paves the way for account protection, as sensitive data is kept local and cuts down on the need for data transfer. There is an important aspect of processing data locally – it enables quicker authentication checks and decision-making. There is a provision for assessing user behaviour and comprehending patterns in real-time and keeping a vigil on unusual login attempts. In terms of cost reduction, edge computing tends to bring down cloud processing costs.
Simultaneously, there are critical aspects that need to be evaluated. Data should be encrypted not only when it’s transmitted but also when it’s processed and stored at the edge. Also, it is essential to guarantee the security of all edge devices. Additionally, maintaining data integrity can present greater challenges compared to overseeing a centralised system.
